“One of the dilemmas of modern Headship is the lack of time (and perhaps motivation) to look at the curricular structure and the timetabling of the school. Finance and other matters take up so much time.
And yet an effective timetable is essential for a good school. A school which does not take care to get a quality timetable will be forever struggling uphill.
Many new Heads wish to change the curricular structure of their new school. And many long-service Heads can see that, as time passes, their existing structure is no longer ideal for purpose.
But how to evaluate the current timetable? And how to change it?
How to ensure that the right staff are appointed when vacancies become available?
If we have a 2-week timetable cycle, is it the right kind of 2-week cycle for our school?
Are we operating the best kind of Options structure in upper school?
